The new project for London transport system is ongoing and pretty soon the final products of all the efforts will be on the streets so the Londoners and thousands visitors of the city staying in holiday rentals in London can enjoy them. It is all about the election promises of the Mayor Boris Johnson who is going to replace the not that loved bendy buses causing a lot of traffic problems and which are working under their full capacity.
Main designer of the project is Thomas Heatherwick and according to the preliminary approved prototype the new double-decker buses will have three doors and will be able to carry more than hundred passengers with its 87 seats and around 20 places for standing. In addition as the designer is going to keep the classical jump on platform on the back this will allow passages to take on and off the bus easily between the spots. The only inconvenience is that there will rise a need of second conductor. Another brilliant solution when it comes to efficiency is that buses will have a hybrid engine which is running on both diesel and electricity making it much more economy than its predecessor.
The different emblematic red colour will be preserved but all the other parts will be green oriented – the entire construction will be made by a lot of glass and lightweight materials. Further more the new angular windows will be created in order passengers to have great view while they are climbing the stairs.
This new transport masterpiece should be on the streets for the 2012 Olympics allowing all the locals and tourists to reach easily Olympic venues from their London short lets.
