A Day At South Kensington

South-Kensington

Leave a full day to explore the rich area of South Kensington. With so many activities and places to visit, it is no surprise that the majority of the holiday apartments in London are here.

Leave the morning free for the museums as there are three to choose from and each will take up the entire morning. The first is The Science Museum which will offer interactive displays that keep the kids both amused and educated. There is even an IMAX 3D cinema to get involved in. The Natural History Museum is the place to check out dinosaurs and a life-sized blue whale. Your kids can get messy in the science labs whilst the Darwin Center will offer fun displays on evolution and the natural world. For those aged under seven, there are even free explorer packs that have puzzles and activities to keep them engaged. The final of the trio is the Victoria and Albert Museum which specializes in design and art. With 3000 years of items and collections, this is simply a view to beat. Furthermore, the museum also hosts a special event for families every weekend which allow children to design their own crazy pieces by getting inspiration from the collection that they have.

After all that learning, the afternoon is about chilling in the parks. Kensington Gardens has the amazing Peter Pan statue and the fabled Elfin Oak which features carved animals and fairies. If your kids get a bit excitable, they can exert their energies on the Diana Memorial Playground, which has a pirates theme, whilst you can soak up the sun on the grassy patches. Kids can even go on a real boat by sailing on the Round Pond or even head to Hyde Park where you can hire a pedalo to go streaming on the Serpentine Lake.

There are many London short lets in the area so be sure to check into a room so that you have somewhere to crash in the evening. South Kensington is the epitome of both entertainment and opulence and should not be missed on anyone’s itinerary of the city.
